Tehran’s E1 Gallery is to commemorate late-great Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

Tehran’s E1 Gallery has scheduled to commemorate late-great Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami on his birth anniversary.

The gallery will organize an exhibition titled ‘Travel to the Morning’, from June 21 to July 5, 2019, in memory of Kiarostami.

Curator of the gallery said the gallery will showcase a collection of the filmmaker’s photos, sets of installation and videos.

It will be held in three sections, one of which has been dedicated to displaying rarely-seen photos by Kiarostami who also was a prominent photographer.

A section will hang works by a group of film photographers and the third one will put artworks by about 70 young and independent artists on display.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Association of Iranian Cinema Photographers in Tehran’s Elahieh neighborhood.

All cinema halls in Iran have also scheduled to honor the birth anniversary of Kiarostami by screening a short film in memory of the filmmaker and a documentary on his life and career on June 22.

Kiarostami has won many awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 for ‘Taste of Cherry’.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The veteran Iranian filmmaker who passed away on July 4, 2016, following a heart attack at the age of 76, was honored at more than 300 film events around the world.
